How do you grab attention with a passing glance?

When Cape Analytics needed a motion graphic video for their tradeshow booth, we knew it had to be an eye-grabber.

Cape was going to the ITC Vegas tradeshow in 2024, and they asked us to make another video for their booth. Our goal was to create something different, something eye-catching for them, for a show which was 6 weeks away.

At the start of the project, Cape had sent us a script that we would later expound upon. This document also included references for the kind of visuals they would like to accompany their text callouts. This video was to be different from our first one but similar enough to follow the brand guidelines.

We dedicated time to developing bold and innovative text animations. This included diving deep into Cape Analytics’ industry terminology to ensure the content was visually engaging but also accurate and meaningful. The main idea is that it should have meaning and create a connection with the viewer. Without audio or music to lean on, the text had to do all the heavy lifting—drawing in passersby, holding their attention, and clearly explaining the Cape Analytics message.

The concepts for the frames were developed with these visuals in mind, like the wildfire frame. Another place we narrowed in on was changing the background color to keep the viewer more engaged. You may not have even noticed unless it was pointed out to you, but it makes more of a difference than you’d think.

From the beginning, the team recognized that readability would be the project’s north star. We fine-tuned the timing of every frame and text element, ensuring viewers had enough time to absorb the information, even if they were glancing for a few milliseconds. We tested the animation on a 90-inch 4K TV screen, which helped us perfect the balance and refine the pacing so that every word hit just right.

When it came to animating the scene with the 3D houses, the actual challenge was the houses themselves. We were unfamiliar with lighting the inside of the house. It turned out to be fun to light the inside of the house just like a real one.

Music wasn’t a huge focus concerning the trade show, but it would be important to those of us not at the event. This is why we focused so heavily on making sure the music was exciting and unique, as well as cutting the video in time to match the music’s beat.

We had the first draft of the video completed in a little under 2 and a half weeks. And when we showed the Cape Analytics team, let’s just say they were blown away with it.

The result? A kinetic typography motion graphic masterpiece that captivated and communicated effectively in one seamless experience in 4k! We did our best to ensure Cape Analytics’ booth turned heads, sparked curiosity, and made their message leave a lasting impression.
