Ting Power Insights

Knows When The Power Is Out, Before You Do

With power outages on the rise, Ting launched a free utility to keep families informed and connected—no sensor, no install. Our challenge? Turn a simple idea into a memorable motion piece that cut through the noise.

This video campaign introduced Ting’s outage alert feature with clean typography, purposeful pacing, and bold visual contrast. Using a mix of 3D phone animation, real-world context, and fast-moving kinetic type, we captured the feeling of “storm’s coming” urgency—while keeping it effortless to follow.

From product demo to public service, this piece bridges utility and storytelling, helping Ting reach millions of homeowners with a life-improving feature.

Because knowing where the power’s out shouldn’t leave you in the dark.

The Approach:

Our goal with Ting was to create a motion language that felt as clear and trustworthy as the product itself—no fluff, no flash-for-the-sake-of-flash. The concept: clean kinetic typography over bold color blocks and carefully chosen stock footage, all anchored by a sleek 3D phone as the hero element.

Balancing the visual hierarchy was key. We treated type as interface—snapping, scaling, and shifting with intention—so viewers could absorb each message instantly, even with the sound off. The 3D phone wasn’t just a placeholder either; it was shaded and animated to feel tactile and present, while still sitting comfortably within the flat design world around it.
