We went viral! Or rather, our new motion brand video was very close to it. For me this was a whole new experience, a phenomenon many wish for that I can say was akin to an out of body experience. Plus, it was all organic and it happened twice!

The Post
This is the post I wrote on LinkedIn: “It takes five months to start over completely. It’s true; we did that. We got sidetracked by priorities and everyday agency stuff, and then we had to pull on the handbrake and drift back into our brand video.
Time brings ideas into focus. Once we restarted the project, I knew what we had would no longer cut it. So, we moved on to a fresh perspective with more colorful and eye-catching concepts far outside our usual approach.
Four weeks of cooking. The team and I went through the tiniest details. Why? Because it’s in the details that the magic of motion truly comes to life.”

It Wasn't Easy
We knew we needed to update our logo as we entered the new year. And being an animation company, we showcased this evolution the only way we know how.
What started as a simple brand refresh video quickly evolved into a rare species we call setbacks and hurdles. But as our logo changed, so have we. The breaks between project ideation and completion led to an entirely different, and entirely Optious, video.

The Slow Start
This project initially started at the beginning of March 2024, but it was stuck in the ideation phase. Animation would’ve been the next step, but other priorities took priority. We are beholden to the mighty dollar, after all. So, the project got put back into the hard drive to collect digital dust.
Months passed, and we unearthed the project like picking out dusty vinyl at a yard sale. The only issue was that the vinyl wasn’t as great as we remembered. Since then, our skills have grown drastically and so has our eye for animation. We knew right away we had to go back to the drawing board.

The Astronaut in The Room
We premiered our new brand mark and updated logo in the outro. We’ve been using outer space iconography since our 2023 demo reel, and it’s about time we made a commitment. In many years passed (think dot-com bubble), Optious’ brand mark was a mighty lion. We have nothing against cats; we just think that space is cooler. We’ve even hidden a little Easter egg on the helmet.

We wanted to start the video off with a bang.
See With Your Ears
If the animation levels up, then so should the sound effects. In this case, our music was aggressive and in your face. This left little space for the sound to cut through the mix, so we didn’t.
In this version we wanted every frame to have a unique sound. One technique our sound designer (Kalell) incorporated was panning the sound effects to the side of the speakers as the music lay in the middle.

After months of fine-tuning, we had it; the final version. (Not the first, not the second, not even the fifth.) What started as a simple logo reveal turned into a meticulously crafted video that accurately conveys who we are now.
This wasn’t just about unveiling a new logo. It was about capturing our growth, showing how Optious is constantly evolving, always experimenting, and always making things just a teensy bit better than before.

The public reaction to the video was surprising, to say the least. We liked it, and apparently, everyone else liked it, too. It ended up being our most-liked LinkedIn post of all time, all without marketing. As well as becoming one of our best-performing campaigns on YouTube . We hope to use this positive feedback as motivation to make even better animations in the future.
