Indeed Smart Sourcing

When a product is new, the gap between what it can do and what users actually do with it is where adoption dies. Indeed's Smart Sourcing feature was built to help employers search, save, and send candidates faster, but a feature that users do not understand in the first session is a feature they do not come back to. Liam, Global Director of Customer Success and later Advisor to the Board of Directors, knew that onboarding was not a support problem. It was a product problem, and video was the fastest path to closing it. He brought Optious in to build two tutorial videos that could get users to value immediately, without a manual, without a support call, and without friction.

The timeline was tight enough that going through Indeed's standard corporate process to access the official Figma files was not an option. So Optious rebuilt every single screen from scratch in Figma and animated from there. That decision added work on our end and removed a bottleneck on theirs, which is exactly the kind of trade-off that keeps a launch on schedule. Indeed extended significant creative freedom on the project, and we used it to design an animated product environment that made the user flow feel intuitive before the viewer had ever touched the actual software.

Both videos were delivered on time. Users watching them knew exactly what to do next. That is what it looks like when onboarding is treated as a creative problem rather than a documentation task.
